Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Olympique de Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Secure French Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now claimed the season-opening cup on 14 different occasions.

The Parisian giants needed a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a successful penalty shootout to get past Marseille in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.

The European champions seemed to be sailing towards a comfortable triumph in the match featuring the French league champions and the French Cup holders after Ousmane Dembele opened the net early on.

However, Marseille struck two times in the closing moments to take a surprise advantage. Initially, Mason Greenwood scored from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable turn of fortune, the Portuguese striker grabbed a vital leveler in the dying seconds to force the match into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, saving crucial kicks from O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all converted with composure for PSG to seal a convincing penalty victory.

The record winners Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now won this competition for the 12th time in the last thirteen years.
