Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
Lando Norris has outscored Oscar Piastri at each of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver just pipped team-mate and title rival the Australian for the quickest lap in the closing stages of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the title advantage from Piastri by a single point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver for most of the session before sprint qualifying set to begin at 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in realistic title contention, sitting with a 36-point deficit Norris, was classified in P17 as his Red Bull team ran a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to crash, albeit lightly, when he rotated at the fourth corner during the early running.
Tsunoda lost control over the track edges before rotating through the gravel trap, and was blessed to escape with just a minor contact of the barrier.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also lost it, at the conclusion of the practice, spinning around through the fast downhill Mergulho corner approaching the last turn on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton ended the session in 19th place, trailing teammate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with the German's Sauber third fastest, 0.619 seconds slower than the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
